How to Apply Decals

Option 1: Dry Application

(Quick and simple)

Step 1: Prep

How To Apply Decals Step 1Thoroughly clean and dry surface.

Step 2: Peel

Peel Clear Transfer Tape away from the backing tape.

Step 3: Apply

Using a credit card or other applicator, apply mild pressure starting from the center of the vinyl and working out towards both sides to remove any air bubbles. Make several passes to

ensure good adhesion to surface.

Step 4: Remove

SLOWLY peel transfer tape away. Using a sharp angle close to the surface (as seen in the picture) helps to not lift letters. Avoid pulling straight up away from the surface. If any letters start to lift up with the tranfer tape you can set transfer tape back down, apply more pressure on the vinyl, and peel again. Now you can enjoy your new decal!

Option 2: Wet Application

Step 3: Apply

Spray the surface you are applying the decal to with soapy water. Set decal on surface and position to where you would like. Using a credit card or other applicator, apply mild pressure starting from the center of the vinyl and working out towards both sides to remove any air bubbles and push the soapy water out. Make several passes to ensure good adhesion to surface. WAIT 15-30 MINUTES (depends on how much soapy water you used) to let the decal dry and adhere to surface.

Step 4: Remove

After letting your decal dry, SLOWLY peel transfer tape away. Using a sharp angle close to the surface (as seen in the picture) helps to not lift letters. Avoid pulling straight up away from the surface. If any letters start to lift up with the tranfer tape you can set transfer tape back down, apply more pressure on the vinyl, and peel again.

Tips For Applying Banners

(To ensure banner will be aligned)

Using the Dry Application Method, Line up your banner and use masking tape on the middle and both ends of the banner to hold it in place.

Carefully Peel half of the vinyl with the transfer tape away from the backing tape and cut off the excess backing tape.

Lay down the vinyl and transfer tape and squeegee it, working from the middle to the     edge, to secure it to the surface. Once half of the banner is installed, you can repeat these     steps on the other side.

After both sides are applied you can peel away the transfer tape.

When using the Wet Application Method for Banners:

  • Lay the banner transfer tape side down, remove the backing tape from the entire banner and spray both the banner and the surface you are applying it to.
  • Then LIGHTLY lay down the banner, move it into place, and squeegee it (working from the middle to the edge) to secure it to the surface.
  • Let the banner dry (15-30 MINUTES) then peel away the transfer tape.

Tips For an Easy Application

• Use a degreaser such as soap and water, dish detergent, or Windex. Give the surface time to thoroughly dry. Remember some cleaners leave residue behind that can prevent the decal from adhering to surface.

• Some decals due to shipping, weather conditions, and small lettering can be tricky to apply. Taking your time with the installation can ensure a successful decal application that will last.

• If a letter starts to peel up with the transfer tape carefully let it back down, apply mild pressure with a credit card over the transfer tape, and pull in a SLOW sharp diagonal angle (SEEN IN STEP 4 PHOTO).

Tips For Prolonging the Life of Your Decal

• When working on or washing your vehicle/surface that the decal is applied to, be aware of objects that may scratch or damage the vinyl.

• Parking in a shaded area when possible will help to avoid the sun and heat from deteriorating the life of your decal. This is especially applicable if you live in a warm climate such as in Florida and California.

Tips For Removing Your Decal

• The simplest method is to peel away the vinyl by hand. You can also use a plastic card, or a razor blade if the decal is on a glass window.

• Using a hairdryer to heat up the vinyl before peeling off the decal can help loosen the adhesion, prevent it from breaking into small pieces, and will leave less residue behind.

• There may still be residue left behind after removal which is normal and can be removed by scrubbing it with a towel and soapy water.
